Every online marketer anxiously awaits the arrival of visitors, who stay on their websites and take some action. But, in most cases, visitors arrive, get frustrated and then leave quickly. Well, there are many ways to lose your website visitors almost as quickly as they land on your website.
Here are eleven of them.
#1. Have an unprofessional or poor website design. A website that’s poorly designed doesn’t satisfy the demands of the modern-day visitors. Excessive use of flesh, uncompressed images, poor HTML coding, not using CSS and large page size are the right ingredients to put together an unprofessional website, that drives visitors away.
#2. Ask visitors to register even before they get the hang of what your website is actually all about.
#3. Present your website visitors with a navigational structure that is hard to understand or poorly designed. Since they have no idea what to do or where to go next, they will choose to leave.
#4. Alter the location of features on your website every now and then, so that repeat visitors get confused. This is a good tactic to lose even the existing customers of your company or online business.
#5. Let the content on your website go stale, so that visitors know that they will only waste their time by visiting over and over again. They understand that your website will not offer them trending and up-to-date content.
#6. Make your website visitors feel that ads or advertising banners are more important to you than quality content. Once they understand this motive of yours, they will be gone forever.
#7. Don’t have an ‘About’ page. Not having an ‘About’ page on your website will keep visitors completely in dark as to who you are, what your company stands for and what they can expect of you.
#8. Choose a poor font size, an unusual font type and a failed color combination. This is an excellent mix to use if you want your website visitors to leave as soon as they arrive, never to return again.
#9. Have lots of broken links on your website.
#10. Design a left-aligned website. This will give your visitors a good idea that you website belongs to the Stone Age, so they won’t expect much and will leave as gently as they came.
#11. Abide by all the tips from #1 to #10.
