11 Tips to Create a Great Landing Page

Focus on a single purpose!

Though landing pages are created in large numbers, it’s a fact that most of them don’t deliver. Most of the companies or online marketers will create and launch their landing pages in a hurry, without paying adequate attention to each of those important elements that make up a great landing page.

Does your landing page live up to your expectations? If not, given below are some crucial tips that you’ll need to follow.

Let’s have a look.

#1. First of all, you need to make sure that the headline of your landing page is in tune with the message of your advertisement. This is about fulfilling the expectations of users when they click on your ads and arrive on your landing pages.

#2. One of the most important characteristics of a great landing page is that it focuses on a single purpose. If the message that you convey through your landing page has more than one purpose, you’re likely to fail.

#3. While creating a landing page, you should always remember to include your company’s logo and tagline on it. By doing this, you’ll make it easy for visitors to understand the whereabouts of your company.

#4. Though it’s important to have an attractive and concise headline on your landing page, it’s also vital to accompany it with some text that does a good job of describing or enhancing the meaning of the headline.

#5. If it’s a landing page, you must be promoting or selling a product. That’s why, it’s extremely important to talk about the benefits of the specific product. In fact, you should list all the key benefits in a bulleted format.

#6. It’s not just the product benefits that would encourage visitors to convert and generate leads for you. What’s even more important is to feature the USP, which quickly sets your product apart from the competition.

#7. If your landing page includes a contact form, you should make sure you have created it appropriately. Apart from having it professionally designed (so it stands out quickly), you also need to pay careful attention to the extent of information you are asking for. Never ask for unnecessary pieces of information.

#8. Does your landing page have trust factors to build credibility? There are plenty of things that you can include on your landing page in order to earn the trust of visitors. Customer testimonials play the most important role as far as creating trust among visitors is concerned. Other elements include company logo, partner logos, certifications, privacy policy, terms/ conditions etc.

#9. One of the most important tips for creating great landing pages is to present your visitors with multiple means of contacting your company. Make sure you provide them with an email and phone number. Having a live chat option is also an excellent idea you can use.

#10. Another important element of a highly converting landing page is the CTA or the call to action. The CTA, therefore, should be designed in a way that easily attracts the visitors’ attention, tells them clearly what to do and what to expect.

#11. Are you A/B testing your landing page? To get the best results with your landing page, you should never ignore testing. To get started with it, you can create two different versions of your landing page, test the results and choose the one which makes the most impact on visitors.

If your landing page is not delivering good results, it’s just the right time to take a microscopic look at all of its vital elements. Use the above tips, keep on tweaking and maximize conversions before it’s too late.

Everything starts in planning stage, even before development starts and again the whole process should be well consolidated between developer, graphic designer and SEO practitioner.

Love the article, I have always been taught that a landing page should include a benefits driven, eye catching title along with all the benefits listed in bullets or subheadings. I’m definitely bookmarking this article, its helped me to understanding the importance of a landing or squeeze page a heck of a lot better:)
