8 Guaranteed Tips to Increase Online Sales

"Enough traffic isn't always equal to enough sales. Targeting the right kind of audience is more important for a higher rate of conversion."

It’s great if your website is attracting plenty of traffic. However, it’s certainly a matter of concern if that traffic is not converting (increasing the sales). In order to make money online, you need to convert browsers into buyers. Whether you are selling a product or a service, you need to find out what makes the most impact on your site’s visitors. There can be multiple reasons behind not making enough sales online. So, what tips can you use to improve or increase the sales?

Given below are 8 guaranteed tips that you can follow to make more online sales and grow your business quickly.

#1. Get Targeted Traffic
The most common reason for fewer sales is untargeted traffic. More traffic doesn’t always means more conversions. You will be able to sell your products or services only when you target the right kind of audience. Getting hundreds of thousands of traffic on your website isn’t the key to improve sales. In fact, you need to reach out to those people who are really passionate about your products. Target those people who simply can’t live without your products.

#2. Don’t Try to Please Just Everyone
It’s impossible to please everyone. And if you try to do so, you’ll only dilute the impact that you actually want to make. If you are selling a wide range of products on your website, you really need to think over. When you focus on too many products at a time, you are most likely to include minimal details about each one of them. It won’t lead to a higher rate of conversion.

On the other hand, focusing on a single product (or a set of closely related products), you will enable yourself to talk about the detailed benefits. You can also pay attention to answering the queries that your visitors may have about that specific product. So, gear up to do some testing and find out whether this strategy increases the sales.

#3. Have a Clear Call-to-Action
Another important piece of advice for improving the online sales is to check out whether you have a clear call-to-action on your website. Make sure the ‘Buy Now’ or the ‘Shop Now’ button is clearly visible to browsers. Wherever you show the products across the website, they should accompany a clear call-to-action.

#4. Talk About Product Benefits
Definitely, you are offering a product to make your audience’s life easier. But are you telling visitors how it fixes their problems? This is a surefire strategy to increase sales on your website. Rather than talking about the features of the product, focus on telling the benefits.

#5. Build Credibility
If you can’t build trust among the audience, you shouldn’t expect more online sales. There are several ways that you can use to build credibility. Achieving a higher rate of conversion is all about gaining the trust of your target audience. Given below are a couple of useful tips to prove your trustworthiness.

Make sure your website looks professional
Focus on building a strong brand
Establish your credentials as an industry expert
Share customer testimonials/ recommendations
Use customer success stories in emails, press releases, blogs etc.
Gain the competitive edge
Enhance your customer service
Display your contact information on every page

#6. Create a State of Urgency
One of the most useful strategies to make more product sales is to create urgency among your visitors. You need to compel visitors to buy your products now. To compel visitors for taking prompt action online, you can offer additional free bonuses or limited discounts. This state of urgency can also be created by offering only a limited quantity of products that you want to sell.

#7. Use Persuasive Copywriting Techniques
Copywriting has to play a vital role in increasing the number of online sales on a website. And that’s exactly where most of small businesses fail. Devote adequate time to developing effective content on your website. Make sure your sales copy is straightforward, relevant, friendly and is devoid of excessive adjectives. Use short paragraphs and bulleted lists to improve scannability of the copy. Spelling mistakes or grammatical errors are a big no-no. It’s always advisable to hire to professional copywriter to do the job.

#8. Start a Pay-Per-Click Account
Did you test it yet? If not, you should start a Google Adwords account right away and find out whether it helps you increase the sales of your products (or services). You can get started with as little as $.10 per click. Just remember to go to slow when you begin with Adwords.

It is better to run adwords only for those products which provide you more profit. PPC is the best way to reach the quality audience but might be little bit costly, if not used properly.
