Good Blog Writers vs Bad Blog Writers

good-bad

Many bad blog writers are bad because they think they’re good!

The web is simply overflowing with bad blog writers. For blog writers (who dream to make it really big), this is actually an opportunity. An opportunity that you can use to your advantage – become a good blog writer, and set yourself apart. Being a good blog writer is about expressing yourself in a way that readers will find easy to connect with. It’s about finding an attractive way to present yourself.

Let me reveal a secret –

‘Not all good bloggers are good blog writers as well’.

Sorry, I would resist the urge to mention any names here. Truth be told, there’s always something, however, that even successful bloggers who are not good blog writers themselves can teach you. Their success is, in fact, a solid example of the fact that ‘consistent hard work beats talent’.

Still, you need to become a good blog writer. First, because ‘good blogging with bad blog writing’ rarely happens. Second, being a good blog writer brings you plenty of advantages, in different ways.

Good blog writing is crucial because –

It gives you an edge as an online marketer (you write your own stuff).
It saves you money that hiring freelance writers requires.
It improves your power of communication.
It speaks volumes about who you are.
It allows you to build trust quickly.
It helps you get hired (when you need it).

As you can see, there are so many advantages of becoming a good blog writer. It should convince you to pay attention to your blog writing skills, and get started on your way to becoming a good blog writer. Yes, not everyone that starts to blog is a good writer by birth. People learn to express themselves effectively. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about if you’re a bad blog writer.

In fact, bad blog writing is the point from where you start your journey towards becoming a good blog writer.

Good Blog Writers
What makes a blog writer a good one? There are certain traits that make a writer a good one. Becoming a good blog writer is not a hard nut to crack because anyone (even you) can develop these traits in order to improve your skills, and stand yourself out in the crowd.

So, good blog writing is about having some specific traits.

Not, skills actually.

Key traits of a good blog writer include –

Focusing on the needs of the target audience
Conducting a good amount of research
Creating an outline first, and expand from there
Formatting the post appropriately
Not focusing on the length of the blog post
Neither being too formal not too casual
Experimenting with different writing formats
Proofreading, at least 2-3 times
Trying to achieve perfection, every time
Accepting negative criticisms gracefully
Reading more and more (articles, blogs, magazines)
Continuing to learn, and improve more

If this list of traits makes any sense, you must be convinced that good blog writing is actually developing some habits, adopting some traits. Now tell me, which of these is impossible to learn or adopt?

Bad Blog Writers
This is just the opposite of good blog writers, isn’t it? Bad blog writers don’t carry the traits as mentioned above. They continue to be bad because they won’t even try to understand what makes up a good blog writer. And even when they know the traits of a good blog writer, they won’t have the time to follow it. In a nutshell, they are bad because they lack the passion to learn, to improve, to become the best blog writers that they can be.

Many bad blog writers are bad because they think they’re good!

Isn’t that funny?

I really hope that this is not the case with you.

It’s absolutely fine to identify your weak points as a blog writer, accept them and start learning to improve as soon as you can. In any case, don’t ever forget that there’s always room for improvement.

A good blog writer can always be a better blog writer.

And better and better and better!

The show must go on.

Do you think you’re a good blog writer? If not, what other tips are you following to improve yourself? Feel free to comment.

I love it! I may not be the best blog writer but I do spend way to much time trying to perfect most of my posts. Sometimes I even get on my own nerves with it, I’ve heard some of the most successful bloggers say that it doesn’t have to be perfect but you just need to get it done. One thing for sure, I do enjoy reading other bloggers blogs, it keeps me informed & up to date on what’s going on in our industry.

Definitely, the more you try to achieve perfection, the better you become. I always believe that learning should be like the show that must go on.

Thanks for your comment, Toshiba.
